Autumn Gillispie, dreams to become an aspiring singer and songwriter. She would like to follow in the footsteps of her idol–Ariana Grande and hopes to one day sing to large stadium crowds.
She is a native of Charleston, WV and lives with her Mother Aimee, Father, Randy and Brother, Colton. She is a Freshmen in high school.
At only 14 years of age, she is already stacking up accomplishments and has grown a large following with one of her videos going viral on Facebook with more than 25 Million Views singing the song “Shallows” with her Dad from the movie “A Star is Born” by Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper.
Autumn began singing at age 5 at her local church but music has surrounded her since birth. Her Mother, Aimee performed in local bands in the area and came in 2nd place on a previous TV show called “Nashville Star” that aired on the cable channel CMT in the 90’s. So really her journey started before she was born with her Mother singing to her hymns and the song “You are my Sunshine” as a child. “She showed an early interest as a young child singing along side of me. We have always had a Karaoke machine at our home and she would crawl up to the mic to sing,” said her Mother.
Autumn likes how music can make a special connection to individuals and how a song can emote an emotion from you. Songs can help you through tough times. About a year ago, Autumn began writing songs to help her get through one of those times in her own young life. She had a very close friend commit suicide. So, she has taken on the platform to bring awareness of Mental Health as well as she uses her talents to raise needed funding for not only this platform but for others such as Hospice of Charleston and a variety of other organizations.
Singing is not her only talent or aspiration. Autumn is an accomplished golfer. She has been awarded with All-State for Girls and won the Girl’s County Championship. Previously she was the only Girl to win the County Golf Championship in 7th and 8th Grade. And she has made a “Hole in One” .
